untranslatable strings

Postby bl0m5t3r » 15 Dec 2008, 20:14

While translating, i noticed that i didn't find a couple stings.
particularly:

- most strings on the fakedetector page
- color and font style names (general text, my nick etc....)

any chance we'll see them in the translation file?
it's only a handful compared to all the other strings, and i looks kinda weird.

Almost everything is missing in that page.
Fakedetector is low prio, and i probably wont do it anytime soon.

If i will find the time a will add translation for this. If it will make it in to 2.05 then we are lucky :)

In Colors & Fonts - "Available styles" and "Preview" some of the text is different like "General text" and "General chat text".
Do it need to be different at all ?

And witch text should we use then if decide to only use one:
"General text" or "General chat text"
"Timestamp" or "The style for timestamp"
"URL (http, mailto, ...)" or "URL"

And there is some existing strings that are almost or exactly the same in the translation file:

"My nick" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "My nick"
"My own message" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "My messages"
"Private message" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "Private message"
"Timestamp" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "Timestamps"
"URL" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "Urls"
"Favorite user" and existing string that perhaps can be used is "Favorite Users"

Is it ok to use the strings on the right side above or do we have to make new strings?

:)

I would use existing strings where possible, as there are already a heap of redundant strings in the translationfile.
as for rightside/leftside, i see what you mean with them being different. I guess they could be very well the same string.

Next to the (and i understand) low prio of the fakedetector these are the last strings i believe.
great stuff!
