AirDc++ 3.21 x64 not able to bind network interface

Postby Lantus » 06 Aug 2016, 18:39

I'm using Astrill vpn and Airdc is not able to 'remember' the network interface if vpn connection is lost, instead airdc chooses another ip that is only listed in interface connections if vpn connection is lost.

Here Astrill vpn connection is lost and AirDc automatic switches to the 'unknown' adapter, that means Airdc is not able to reconnect and connection is down until I again choose Astrill and reconnect.

Any chance this bug can be taken care of ?
Error is easy to replicate, let me know if you need any other info.

Thanks

It actually binds to an IP address of that interface. Is it an external IP address that changes occasionally?

Yes, external IP address changes resulting in downtime for my client.

I have been using torrent for many years and Vuze client is also able to bind to interface but even if I lost connection I did not have to manually get it back on line, vuze took care of that.

Is this possible to achieve using AirDc++ client

Yeah, binding to an actual IP isn't really a good solution in an application that isn't usually being run on servers with static IP addresses. If the IP of your interface changes on fly, AirDC++ can't currently handle that at all.

Hi,
I still request this feature. Any chance of implementing it?
I really love AirDC++ and I'm very grateful for your continued support of it!
Totally understand if you don't have time to implement new features like this and I'm happy with just small bug fixing and compatibility updates really.

But in case you get inspiration:
For me I have 3 different choices:
Any (0.0.0.0)
VPN (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
Wifi (192.168.0.x)

Can't we just make it lock on the preferred one?
