Translating AirDC++

Postby maksis » 16 Oct 2013, 13:40

Translations of AirDC++ are managed at https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/airdcpp/

Anyone who has created an account on the site is able to submit new translations. After registration, choose the language that you want to translate and click "Join team". Translations are pushed to the users automatically after an authorized person has reviewed them. If your language has no one to review the translations, you can request for a permission to become one.

Here's some general information about the translation system used by AirDC++:

  • Translations will be fetched to the update site once per night, from where the clients will fetch translations automatically. The updating script will take care of managing the version numbers so translators don't have to take care of that.
  • Translations located at Transifex will only be used by AirDC++ 2.60 and newer versions because of XML changes. Uploading translations for older versions isn't possible at the moment.
  • Only reviewed strings will be pushed to the clients. If you are making lots changes in a period of several days, mark the translations as reviewed when you have finished with the changes to avoid continuous language downloads made by the clients.
  • Only languages with more than 40% of translated (and reviewed) strings will be pushed to the clients
  • You may download translations from Transifex for testing purposes and load them in the client manually. Just note that some strings aren't displayed correctly but they will be converted to the correct format by the script that manages language updates on the update site.
