Graphic skills wanted

Postby en_dator » 24 Sep 2009, 21:47

We have a small challenge for all you graphicly skilled people out there :)

We need a better looking site logo (can you tell I edited the current one in paint ? :P )

The image should be 139px × 52px in size to suit the current forum theme, but of course we want a high res one to use for other things too.

We also should replace the current site fav icon to match.

And the last (and smallest) but still very important one is for a new feature in AirDC++.
We would like to put an icon on the hub tab to display your status in the hub, if you are unregged, regged or has a key.
And we would like one of you to get the honour of creating those images.
The image is small, only 16px × 16px 32bit so it is not an easy task. And we need one for reg status, and one for key status.

What do you say? Anyone up for it?

Something like this?

Tried to constrain some of the original colors. Lemme know if this is not what you're looking for :)

Ty :)

Think I've 'created' 3-5 icon sets for my self. This is the one I'm currently using (heavily modified version of some icons I've found a while ago and I've added a bunch of new ones..)

There is one thing I forgot to mention in my first post.

To be included in the client, or to be used on the site the images must either be licenced under a GPL or linkware license (or license with similar intent), or it must be original work by you who post it here and you must give us license to use your work.

Note that the restriction of "no commercial use" does in fact conflict with GPL because GPL does not revoke the freedom to sell copies which in other words means I could sell a copy of AirDC++ for a price if I wanted to although no-one would by it :P

So licenses that restrict this are automatically GPL incompatible.

I guess 'tomorrow' turned into thursday.

Well, here's the images requested. A site logo in highres, a site logo in height 52, a logo without any text (@ Toast) and the modified HubOp and HubReg icons.

Note that the 'logo' is a modified version of a logo I found. But the original creater actually just upscaled the DC++ original logo, which should mean that his logo is free for use.... All I did was change the colors, cut and change another color and rotated it to blend in with the logo text.

What is the font used in this logo? Or is this something hand-made?
Also does the image HAVE to be .gif or is .png also acceptable (so I know to set the matte color for gif export)

I doubt its hand made, it looks like a real font, although I have absolutely no idea which one :)

I like the logo so if you know a similar font maybe?

The site logo could be any format really, it doesnt matter as long as its a format with transparency of course.

The font is called Astron Boy and its free :D

I also like the logo, and I don't think it should be radically changed, just glossed up a bit :D

Here's something I made up.
Original render is 1804 x 512, which doesn't really matter cause it all drawn up in vector art.
Made with Fireworks CS4

I like.

Amazing you found the font m8, and also nice to know it was free so we actually were allowed to use it all this time too ;)

WTF works wonders. Even with a badly traced image which I submitted.

I'm glad you like it. Like I said, it's all vector art so scaling, exporting to .gif, .png, .bmp, whatever is not an issue.
Even changing the colors is not the problem.

Let me know which one you'd like for the site logo, the color scheme (if you're not happy with the previews we can play around with the colors) and the dimensions so I can export the image to the right format and size.

Cheers
